Once implemented, the Regional Prosperity Initiative will provide the structure for coordinated, regional land use planning and new growth tax base sharing in the 16-county Northeast Ohio region. In short, the RPI will allow our region to plan, share and grow...together!
Goals for Region-wide Land Use Planning:
- Measureable cost savings on public infrastructure
- Reinvestment in core cities where infrastructure already exists
- Establishment of specific areas for commercial and industrial growth, retail and shopping, residential and suburban growth
- Protection of agricultural land and green space
Goals for New Growth Tax Base Sharing:
- Reduced competition for businesses with neighboring communities
- Reinvest and revitalize declining areas
- Reduce disparities in tax base and tax rates for public services
- Improved services
